Dear Delia . . .
This morning I arrived at The University of Britechester. I know you would have loved it here, the campus is beautiful.
I am living in Wyvern Hall (by The SimSupply).
I currently have nine roommates. The first two that I met were Sarah Brown (yellow top) and Chloe Taylor (blonde hair). Sarah is a culinary major and Chloe is studying economics.
After talking with Chloe and Sarah for a few minutes I decided to go upstairs and check out my room. It is fairly drab but spacious. I was surprised to learn that I have the room to myself.
But after adding some personal touches it felt more like home.
After I finished setting up my room, I headed to the cafeteria for lunch. The food was okay but nothing like dad’s home cooking.
After lunch, I met several more of my roommates.
I heard there was a meeting of the Debate Guild happening at the UBrite Commons. I know how important being on the debate team was to you, so I decided to check it out and join in your memory.
The first debate team member I met was Jerico Wallace. He is a Psychology major and boy is he HOT! I learned later that he is married.
“I am interested in joining the Debate Guild. Are you currently taking new members?”
“Absolutely! We always welcome new members. Here is a debate t-shirt for practice, your blazer for the showdown, and poster.”
I followed Jerico inside and was pleased to see that Riley Nixx, one of my roommates, was also on the debate team. It will be great having someone to practice with.
I figured I had better observe until I get my debate skill up. The two debating were Sarah Rasperry and Arian Yadav. They were both good but Sarah won the practice debate.
After the debate Sarah and I spent some time getting to know each other. Given how well Sarah knew her facts and figures I was not surprised to learn that she is a history major.
I also learned that Arian is a Psychology major. He wants to be a teacher. I am not going to lie, I find him really attractive.
That evening I headed to Pepper’s Pub (by DoctorSimCraft) as I heard there was a gathering of the Art Society. As an Art History major I figured that would be a great organization for me to join.
When I walked into Pepper’s Pub, I was pleased to see a friendly face. Our cousin Dione Connelly-Lewis (Corvus & Jonathan’s daughter) is also enrolled in University. However, Dione is attending Foxbury Institute.
Our cousin Nia Lewis (Nathanial & Diana’s daughter) was also there. Turns out she is going to Foxbury as well. Both Dione and Nia are studying Computer Science. Nia did tell me that her twin sister Isabella is attending Britechester. I haven’t seen her yet so I will need to keep my eye out for her.
Before going into the pub I took a look around Gibbs Hill. There is a lot of stuff here for college students to do. I will have to be sure to check out all of those locations.
I went inside Pepper’s Pup and met Lola Lovecraft. I asked her if I could join the Art Society and she said yes. She gave me a shirt for club gatherings and a poster.
The next morning I got up early and had breakfast.
It was a beautiful morning, so I decided to head to the UBrite Commons to work on some paintings for the Art Society. I need to complete three different paintings before our next meeting.
After finishing my painting I realized it was almost time for my first class. I made sure to actively listen during class and also take notes. I want to make you proud, dear sister, and do well in university.
After class, I ran into our cousin Isabella. She is a history major and works part-time at the coffee kiosk on campus.
There was a Debate Guild meeting that afternoon in the UBrite Commons. I was given the topic “Cow Plants: Pets or Deadly.” I am taking the position that they are deadly. I headed straight to the research terminal to start looking into the topic.”
After the meeting, I hung out the UBrite Commons and worked on my homework for my next class. I also spent some time getting to know Nathan Epperson, one of my roommates, a little better.
Then after class, I went to an Art Society meeting.
Later that evening I participated in a Tea and Poetry reading at the UBrite Commons.
At the end of the week, there was a big game on campus and the Spirit Corp was having a gathering. I was happy to see Brodrick Green there as I had met him a few days prior. I asked if I could join the squad and he said yes. He gave me a shirt and a poster for my dorm room.
The gathering was a lot of fun with the two campuses trying to one-up the other with cheers. Nia is on the Spirit Squad for Foxbury.
In addition to going to classes and joining all three campus organizations, I have been spending time getting to know my roommates. So far I am closest to Chloe Taylor. On one of my first nights in Wyvern Hall, she came and hung out in my room. We sat around talking for hours.
“Where are you from?” I asked.
“Del Sol Valley,” she said. “My father was a producer and my mother a stylist. How about you?”
“I grew up in Newcrest,” I said. “My step-mom actually lived in Del Sol Valley for several years. She was a musician but got tired of the tours and being in the studio 24/7. Now she writes music for other artists and films. Her name is Everly.”
“Your step-mom is Everly! Wow, that is so cool. My parents loved Everly’s music.”
“Do you have any siblings?” I asked.
“Sadly, no. My parents were too focused on their careers to have any more children. How about you?”
“I actually have a pretty big family. My dad had six children counting me.”
“Wow, do they all live in Newcrest?”
“Actually, no. I have two half-siblings, Delphini and Dorado, living in Sulani. They are much older than I am so I don’t know them very well. I actually met them for the first time when I was eight. We went to Sulani for Delphini’s wedding.”
“We should totally go visit one year over Spring Break,” she laughed. “Tell me about the rest of your siblings. Sorry for being so nosy, it’s just that I always wanted to know what it was like to come from a big family.”
“I have an older brother that lives in Newcrest. His name is Draco and he is a fisherman. Like me, he was the result of my father’s alien abduction and implantation. I have an older half-sister named Daphnis that also lives in Newcrest. She is a freelance writer. I also have a much younger half-brother, he just turned 8, still living at home. His name is Dante. While Daphnis and Dante are Everly’s only biological children she always treated the rest of us like we were her own. I call her mom and think of her as my mother.”
“Wow, your family sounds awesome! Wait, including you, that’s only five. You said there were six of you.”
“Yeah, I had a twin sister. Her name was Delia. She was actually the one who wanted to come here. But sadly she died in a tragic kitchen fire. I am here at Britechester living out her dream for the both of us.”
“Oh, Dia, I am so sorry for your loss.”
“Thanks, I just hope I can make her proud.”
“I am sure you will,” she said.
The next several months seemed to fly by.
I am making friends. In addition to Chloe, I have also become close friends with Sarah Brown.
She has a boyfriend named, Roman Edgewood.
Sometimes I am so exhausted I fall asleep between classes.
For the first Debate Showdown of the year, I was paired against Sarah Rasperry. She is the best debater in the Guild. I knew I had no chance of winning but it was good practice.
After the Showdown the entire Debate Squad went to University Pizza for Root Beer Floats and Pizza. It was a great way to get to know the other members of the Debate Guild better.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a true college experience without the occasional party. My roommates and I decided to have a Keg Party. I invited a lot of my new friends from the Debate Guild, Art Society, and Spirit Corp.
Everyone had a great time dancing, talking and drinking.
I played Juice Pong with Arian Yadav from the Debate Society.
“Looser has to do a keg stand,” I said feeling overly confident.
Sadly, I was no match for Arain and quickly lost.
He helped me do the keg stand but ended up dropping me splashing both of us with pineapple juice.
He helped me up and suddenly we were making out.
“Meet me in the showers,” I whispered in his ear.
Soon our clothes were coming off and we were making out by the showers.
I stepped into the shower and got under the spay. “Well, are you coming?” I asked.
Before pulling him into the shower with me.
I can’t believe I am having woohoo for the first time in the shower with my friend from Debate Society.
I was worried things would be awkward between us after our shower hook-up but that wasn’t the case. We talked before the next debate meeting and agreed that neither of us was looking for a serious relationship.
“We could be friends with benefits,” he joked.
“That actually sounds great to me,” I said.
Unfortunately, I have been so busy with school and all my organizations that we haven’t had time for anymore “benefits”.
I have been doing a lot of research on Gardening Innovations for my debate on cow plants.
Having Riley living in Wyvern Hall is great because she practices with me in the evenings.
I recently competed in a mock debate with one of the other members. I was thrilled to see that Chloe and Sarah came to watch and cheer me on.
In addition to participating in Debate Society events, I am also working on several paintings for the Art Society.
I had to get the Foxbury Lobsters Spirit Club back for vandalizing our statue by spray painting a little graffiti on theirs.
Of course, I also had school work to do. I have a final paper to write for one of my classes.
And my presentation to finish for the other.
Before I knew it the first term was almost over and I was heading home for Harvestfest.
Dad made a Grand Meal and invited Draco and Daphnis to join us. We all went around the table and shared what we were thankful for.
“I am thankful that I have such a wonderful family to come home to,” I said.
Dziban was really happy to see me. I missed him so much too.
While I was home I made sure to spend tons of time with him.
When it was time to head back to campus I gave dad a big hug. I really do miss my family when I am in school.
When I returned to Britechester I found campus covered in snow. It looked so beautiful. I had a blast with a couple classmates making Snowpals in the Quad.
With finals just around the corner, I wanted to make sure I was on track to get A’s in all my classes. Therefore, I invited my professor to lunch.
“You are doing great in class, Dia. Just make sure you give a quality presentation, polish your paper, and study for those finals.”
I really buckled down on the homework those next few weeks. It all paid off. I checked my grades for the first term and I earned strait A’s.
For Winterfest, I went back to home to Newcrest. Dad and mom did a wonderful job decorating the house. It looked beautiful.
Dad made a grand meal and this time we were joined by Dorado, Delphini, her husband Aanton, and their son Ennis. It was Aanton and Ennis’s first time seeing snow.
After we finished eating dad had us all change into holiday attire. He had arranged for a photographer to take a family portrait of all of us. I think the portrait turned out great. I just wish Delia would have been in it with us.
We decorated the tree together and sang Winterfest Carols.
Before opening presents. Dad gave each of us kids a copy of the family portrait. I can’t wait to hang it in my room back at Britechester. While I am sad to say goodbye to my family I can’t wait to see my friends again.
