I got on the first flight to Sulani and raced to Curtis and Cooper’s place.
“Is she still here?” I asked.
“She is floating in our pool,” Cooper said.
I went out back and found Sirena floating in the pool. I cleared my throat so that she would know I was there.
We spent some time talking.
Before she got out of the pool.
“The baby is very active today,” she said. “Would you like to feel?”
As I placed my hand on Sirena’s belly, I felt a big kick. I couldn’t believe that I was feeling my son or daughter kicking.
Over the next several days, I spent time getting to know Sirena better, and we became friends. My only frustration was that I kept asking her what we were going to do after the baby was born, and she kept saying, “there is time to discuss that later.”
About a week after I arrived in Sulani, Sirena went into labor.
She gave birth to a baby girl named Delphini after the constellation of Delphinus. It means the dolphin, which is very fitting for a baby that may one day grow up to be a mermaid. Delphini has my Sixam skin tone.
She also gave birth to a baby boy named Dorado. He is also named after a constellation, which means swordfish. An equally fitting name for a potential merman. He is the spitting image of Sirena with her pale skin. I hope he will also have her red hair when he is older.
“I know you have been wanting to know the plan for after the baby was born, but I kept putting you off. The reason is I didn’t want to think about it. I didn’t want to think about having to say goodbye to my baby, well, I guess babies, for many years. I need the ocean to survive, so I must stay in Sulani. While pools and bathtubs can sustain me for a while, I need the ocean. It won’t be known if the babies are mermaids until they are older. And if they are mermaids, they won’t get their tails until they are teenagers. I need to be in the water more than I can be on land. Therefore, at this time, I am in no position to raise either of them. You will need to take them back to Newcrest with you.”
“Really?!” I asked, surprised. While Sirena and I had become friends, we were not in love as I believe my heart will always belong to Everly. So I didn’t see a future for the two of us. With her living in Sulani, I figured visitation was the best I could hope for. The idea that I would be able to raise the twins thrilled me more than I could say.
“Yes, they will be safer with. If they are mermaids, when they become teenagers, they will need to return to Sulani. Like I said a pool or tub can sustain us for a while but we need the ocean waters to survive.”
A few days later, I returned to Newcrest with the twins. I used some of the money I had made from selling the harvestables from the greenhouse to add another bathroom and nursery to the house. I may have gone overboard with all of the toys as it will be a while before the twins can use them, but I was just so excited about being a father.
I will say though that being a single father to twins is exhausting. Especially when they seem to be on different eating, sleeping, and pooping schedules. It looks like one of them is always crying.
But, I adore them and wouldn’t exchange a sleepless night for anything.
Dorado and Delphini are not the only new additions to the Constar family. My second cousin Dillinger Pollux (Becrux’s grandson), recently left Sixam. He moved to San Myshuno and is engaged to Zara Newman.
The couple just had their first child; a baby boy named Enif. He is the first child born into the fifth generation of the Constar family. Enif is a star in the Pegasus Constellation.
The other new addition to the family was a bit of a surprise. One day my cousin Caliban (Bellatrix’s son) heard a knock at the door, went to answer it, and was surprised to see a teenage girl standing at the door.
“Hello,” he said. “Can I help you?”
“Yes, I am looking for Caliban Galaxis. I heard he lived here.”
“I’m Caliban. Why are you looking for me?”
“Do you remember a woman named Isabella Garcia? She lived in Selvadorada.”
“Wow, I haven’t thought about Isabella in years. Yes, I remember her.”
“She was a street vendor that I met on one of my first trips to Selvadorada. I bought some supplies from her, and we really hit it off.
On her day off, she offered to show me some of her favorite jungle locations.
“Our relationship turned very passionate but ended when I returned to San Myshuno.”
“Did you ever try to find her again?” the mystery girl asked.
“On my next couple of visits, I went to the marketplace to look for her, but she wasn’t there. I asked around, but none of the locals would give me any information either. After that, my visits to Selvadorada grew further and further apart. I got more involved with artifact authentication and restoration. Nowadays, museums and collectors send me artifacts by mail. I haven’t actually been back to Selvadorada in years. Why all these questions about Isabella?”
“Isabella was my mother.”
“When she found pregnant with me, her family disowned her as they didn’t believe in woohoo or having children outside of marriage. She found a small place in Selvadorada to call home.”
“She continued working all through her pregnancy at the marketplace selling supplies to tourists and explorers.”
“She loved to tell me about how on the day that I was born, she was in the middle of making a sale when she went into labor. She said she didn’t let a little pain stop her from completing the transaction before going to the hospital.”
“We never had a lot of money, but she was a wonderful mother. We played together. She taught me skills.”
“She would bring me with her to the marketplace, and I would play while she worked.”
“By the time I turned six, I was helping her and making sales of my own.”
“On her days off, we explored the jungle together, collecting artifacts and looking for hidden treasures.”
“The only bad thing about our home was that we had a major problem with bats, insects, and spiders. A few weeks ago, mom, Isabella, was bitten by a poisonous spider.”
“She got really sick.”
“And passed away.”
“I am sorry for your loss,” Caliban said. “Isabella was a wonderful woman and sounded like she was a great mom. Are you here to sell some of the artifacts and other treasures you and your mom collected?”
“Actually no, that’s not why I’m here. For as long as I can remember, every year on my birthday, I would ask my mom about my father. She would never tell me much, only that he was from another planet far away from ours. She said that he had my blue skin but dark eyes that swirled and sparkled. She said his eyes reminded her of looking at the stars at night.”
“When she first got sick, she gave me this,” she said as she showed Caliban her birth certificate.
Baby Name: Diana Garcia
Mother: Isabella Garcia
Father: Caliban Galaxis
“You’re my daughter?!” Caliban exclaimed clearly shocked.
“Given how mom said you were from a different planet, I figured my chances of finding you would be slim. Therefore, I was surprised when I did a search for you online and found out that you were a respected archeologist living in San Myshuno. It took all of the money I had left to buy a plane ticket to come here.”
“I know you didn’t know about me, so I am not expecting anything. It is just that I am only 15. My mom is gone. They want to put me in a home for kids with no family, which sounds awful. I figured I had to try to find you to see if maybe you would let me stay with you. Or if you don’t want that — maybe there is someone else from the family I could stay with until I turn 18? I cook and clean. I promise I wouldn’t be any trouble.”
“You’re my daughter, of course, you can stay with me,” Caliban said as he pulled the girl in for a big hug.”
Caliban still lived in the apartment with his brother and several male cousins but decided their bachelor pad was no place for his 15-year-old daughter. Therefore, a bunch of house swapping ensued within the family.
To make this clearer to understand, I’ll provide a little backstory. My grandfather, Atlas, built five houses in Newcrest. However, one was eventually torn down to make room for mom’s library, which you see on the right.
The first house my grandfather built was for his older brother Aries. The house has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and one bathroom. After Aries and his wife passed away their daughter moved to San Myshuno and the house went to my uncle Beid and his wife, Maeve. When they died their daughter Chaldene continued to live there with her husband and daughters Daly and Diphda Branham. Chaldene recently passed away, and neither of the girls had any desire to remain in Newcrest.
Daly wants to be a master mixologist while Diphda intends to be a professional athlete. They decided to move to San Myshuno, where they would have easier access to bars and gyms.
With two bedrooms, the house was perfect for Caliban and Diana. They redid one of the bedrooms to make it ideal for a teenager. They even added some Slavadorada touches to make it feel like home for Diana.
Caliban brought his archeology table so he can continue authenticating artifacts for museums and private collectors.
The house-swapping didn’t end there. My grandfather’s second house also cost only $20,000 and had one bedroom and one bathroom. The house had originally been used by my uncle Botien until he left Newcrest to live on Sixam. After that my aunt Betelgeuse and uncle Brandan moved into the house, they added a couple more bedrooms onto the house for their kids. Those rooms were later used by Carina and me when we lived there after mom built her library. When Corvus and Jonathan moved in they had those rooms removed to restore the house to the way it was when my grandfather made it. Unfortunately, now that they have their son Dryden they are finding they need more space. They also know they want at least one more child as Jonathan also wants to go through the implantation procedure.
Therefore, they decided to move out, and my nephew Aeolus (Cassie’s son) moved in. He is a loner and Renaissance sim. He works as a freelance programmer and for the most part, enjoys being alone.
Grandpa’s third house cost just over $50,000 and had a lot of space. My uncle Bootes and his husband Royce raised six kids in that house. Boote’s grandson’s Dalton and Draper wanted to move to San Myshuno, so Caliban offered them his old room.
Given that this was the biggest of the houses grandpa built, Carina, Jonathan, their four kids, and two dogs moved into that house.
After a little redecorating, it was perfect as it had a nursery for Denning.
A toddler room for Dove.
And a room for Dawson and Dyson to share.
That left grandpa’s fourth house, also worth over $50,000, available for Jonathan and Corvus.
They have a nursery for Dryden.
And a third bedroom that is currently using as a home science lab.
On Leisure Day, I invited several family members over for a pool/house party. I grilled for everyone.
We spent time in the pool.
In addition to family members, I also invited the Lewis family. Even though Everly left me, I have maintained a close relationship with her family. Nathaniel is now a teenager, and it looks like he and Diana hit it off. The spent most of the party talking.
They later looked pretty cozy in the hot tub.
Before leaving the party, I saw Nathaniel and Diana exchange numbers. I could tell that Caliban did NOT like that one bit. Even though Diana has only been in his life a few months he adores her and is very protective of her.
I can understand how he feels as I feel the same way about the twins. I try to spend as much time with them as possible.
I also continue my daily workouts.
I have managed to move up from team mascot to dance captain.
Of course, I also spend time with the dogs and recently painted Rocket’s portrait.
Speaking of Rocket, he is very protective of the twins and will often nap in front of their bassinets.
My niece Belinda (Cassie’s daughter), is now a young adult and pregnant with her first child. The baby’s father is married and wants nothing to do with her or the baby. Cassie told me that Belinda was anxious about being a single mother, so I invited her over to spend time with her cousins. It is a win-win situation as she gets to work on her parenting skills.
While I take the dogs for a quick jog.
Or work in the garden.
Belinda is also a talented artist and offered to paint my adult portrait.
Belinda was actually over visiting the twins when she went into labor.
We got her to the hospital in time.
She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Eridanus. Eridanus is a constellation and means a river.
Belinda is still living in San Myshuno with her mom. Cassie is just thrilled with being a grandmother.
Before I knew it an entire year had gone by, and it was time for the twins’ birthday.
Dorado inherited a slightly lighter version of his mother’s red hair and has brown eyes. He is a wild child, meaning I have my work cut out for me.
His sister Delphini has her mother’s darker red hair and green eyes. She is fussy, so once again, I have my work cut out of me.
While they don’t have fins yet (and won’t until they are teenagers), they are both mermaids like their mother. I am not going to lie; part of me was hoping neither of them would be mermaids as I hate the idea of having to return them to Sulani when they are teenagers.
Shortly after the twins aged up Comet becoming an elder. I hate to think about him getting older.
He still loves to go for daily jobs throughout the neighborhood.
I will admit having toddlers is much easier than infants as the twins are now often able to entertain themselves. They babble at the dogs or their toys to work on communication skills.
They both have active imaginations and are quickly gaining in that skill while playing with their toys and dollhouse.
They love being outside playing in the backyard on the slide or in the sandbox.
I have been working on them with potty training.
We have also been doing flashcards to gain thinking skills.
However, don’t get me wrong; raising them is no piece of cake.
Dorado, is as I mentioned before, is a wild child. He loves to make messes.
I caught Dorado playing in the toilet.
He also loves to bang around the pots and pans.
Delphini cries a lot.
She will also have temper tantrums if she doesn’t get her way.
I have been working with both of them on how to say they are sorry when they do something terrible.
They are also super sweet and are each other’s best friend.
Just like when they were infants, Rocket always stands guard when the twins are sleeping.
I recently arranged a play date with Corvus’s son Dryden, Dellinger’s son Enif, and Carina’s kids Denning and Dove.
We had the party at Constar Park. I grilled Hot Dogs for all the toddlers.
The kids played on the toddler jungle gym.
Of course, my fussy little Delphini had to have a tantrum because she went down the slide too fast.
Dorado decided to take off all of his clothes and run around the park in nothing but his diaper.
I also made a cake for Dove as the party served as a birthday celebration for her.
She is an adorable little girl.
My career is going well. I recently recieved a promotion to Minor Leaguer.
In addition to working out, I have been spending time online researching my opponents.
The twins are thriving. Dorado just maxed the communication skill while talking to his stuffed dog.
Delphini can now go potty by herself. She was so proud of herself; she was jumping up and down giggling.
They are also both close to maxing their imagination skills.
Dorado has a close relationship with Comet. He will spend hours talking (or barking) at Comet.
Delphini loves her Wabbit tablet and will spend hours playing educational games.
Both of the twins love to play, especially when I pick them up and have them go flying through the air.
One evening, I was just getting home from work when I noticed a strange light in the sky. I looked up and was immediately beamed onboard a Sixam spacecraft. It looks like I just had my first abduction. I wonder if the implantation will be successful?
